Overview
HNTB’s Resilient Infrastructure Solutions (RIS) team partners with clients to assess vulnerability to extreme weather and identify cost‑effective solutions to mitigate risk and withstand changing conditions. We help clients navigate uncertainty through integrated services that prepare, adapt, and respond to change.
LocationBoston, MA & Chelmsford, MA (Lexington)
Responsibilities- Complete assigned work within schedule and hours.
- Prepare or modify portions of project reports, plans, designs, and calculations.
- Develop project quantities and assist with cost estimates.
- Provide administrative support of design files and organization.
- Perform research, data collection, field investigations, development, and design tasks.
- Carry out other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 2 years of relevant experience, or
- Master’s degree in Engineering and 1 year of relevant experience.
- Experience on interdisciplinary teams delivering projects successfully, profitably, and to client satisfaction.
- Contribute to reports and material preparation for presentations.
- Leverage knowledge of civil engineering practices (hydrology, bridge design, geotechnical engineering, etc.) and associated requirements.
- Assess relevance of data and compile and analyze data for review.
- Support technical work in vulnerability assessments, risk analysis, flood modeling, infrastructure planning, resilience standards, nature‑based solutions, or economic/demographic analyses.
- Review plans and project documents and apply critical thinking.
- Excellent oral and written communication, and time management.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.
- Knowledge of climate data/map science and statistics for scenario planning.
- Proficiency in data mining, cleaning, transformation, aggregation and dataset preparation for modeling and forecasting.
- Experience in probability and statistics for scenario‑based planning.
- Capability to develop data‑driven insights from large datasets.
- Experience supporting flood risk assessments using HEC‑FDR, G2
CRM, beach‑fx, or similar. - Comfortable with Arc Map/ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Tableau, Power BI, Python, AWS, and other data visualization & cloud tools.
Approximated range for Massachusetts: $89,301.41 – $. Nationwide approximate range: $74,417.85 – $. Final salary depends on qualifications, experience, skills, and location.
