Job Description

AECOM’s Water Business Line is seeking a talented Water Treatment Project Manager who is passionate about water, conveyance, treatment plant evaluation, design and construction. The role requires experience as a client‑facing project manager on regional and municipal water treatment projects, with an immediate opportunity to contribute to an established practice in the New England area (Chelmsford, MA; Boston, MA; or Rocky Hill, CT).

Responsibilities
  • Lead multi‑discipline and complex water design projects from planning through permitting and construction, including alternative delivery projects.
  • Manage a portfolio of clients with multiple projects to approved scope, budget and schedule.
  • Perform technical reviews and implement AECOM quality standards.
  • Serve as a point of contact internally and externally for projects and clients in the New England area.
  • Consistently complete projects without write‑downs or multiplier erosion.
  • Develop and mentor mid‑level and junior staff for career development.
  • Exercise decision‑making authority and direct others to recognize risk and uncertainty, with plans to mitigate and eliminate such risks.
  • Lead business development activities, including pursuing new clients and projects and leading proposal efforts with technical and cost pricing.
  • Actively participate in water and wastewater organizations through presentations at conferences and volunteering.
  • Travel to and/or work in Chelmsford, MA;
    Boston, MA; or Manchester, NH as required.
Qualifications
  • BS in Civil or Environmental Engineering with 6+ years of related experience in water treatment, pumping and conveyance systems.
  • Registered Professional Engineer or ability to obtain within 1 year.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License and must pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records Review.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 10+ years of related experience in water/wastewater consulting and engineering management.
  • Registered Professional Engineer in MA, CT, NH, RI, VT, ME or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Experience leading scope, technical approach and pricing efforts for business development activities.
  • Experience in water treatment, pumping stations, conveyance systems and client relations.
  • Experience leading client and public presentations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and motivate staff and project team.
  • Experience leading design‑build/alternate delivery projects.

  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
  • Sponsorship for U.S. employment authorization is not available now or in the future.
  • Compensation range: $160,000 - $200,000.
