We've partnered with our client to hire a Production Buyer to join their team!
Location:
Chelmsford, MA
When:
Immediate need, 6+ months, contract to perm
Pay: $40/hour
Position SummaryThe Buyer is responsible for supporting procurement and supply chain activities by partnering with cross‑functional teams such as operations, engineering, and planning to ensure materials and services are sourced efficiently and delivered on time. This role focuses on inventory planning, supplier coordination, and cost management to support overall business objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Manage day‑to‑day purchasing and inventory activities in a dynamic environment
- Review system‑generated demand signals and convert them into purchase orders to support production and operational needs
- Monitor material availability and address shortages by coordinating with internal teams and suppliers
- Expedite orders and adjust delivery schedules to meet changing business requirements
- Source materials, components, and services by obtaining quotes and evaluating supplier options
- Analyze pricing and maintain cost competitiveness across assigned categories
- Track and report on purchasing metrics, including cost variances and supplier performance
- Collaborate with suppliers to resolve delivery or quality issues and ensure timely fulfillment
- Support inventory strategies, including vendor‑managed or consignment inventory where applicable
- Assist with the disposition of non‑conforming materials in coordination with internal stakeholders
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Experience in purchasing, supply chain, or materials management
- Familiarity with inventory planning, supplier management, and procurement processes
- Experience working with ERP or planning systems
- Strong analytical and organizational skills, with proficiency in spreadsheet tools
- Ability to work cross‑functionally in a fast‑paced environment
- Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies is a plus
- Professional certifications in supply chain or operations are preferred
