Position SummaryTriton Systems, Inc. is seeking a hands‑on Manufacturing Technician to assist the Engineering staff in the production of various repairs, coatings, and additively manufactured parts via cold spray. The role will use knowledge and prior experience with cold spray, coatings, additive manufacturing, metal fabrication, machining, operation of heavy machinery, and/or manufacturing equipment, and/or assembly. The candidate will troubleshoot equipment, communicate effectively, and provide effective suggestions for improvement.
The role requires quick learning, the ability to work in a fast‑paced and dynamic environment, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary engineering team. This is a full‑time, on‑site role based in Chelmsford, MA.
- Work alongside Engineering to build cold‑sprayed metal repairs, coatings, and additively manufactured parts for various applications.
- Collaborate with Engineering to implement custom spray procedures (gas temperature/pressure, powder parameters, robotic tool path, etc.) to fabricate desired parts, suggesting process improvements as needed.
- Handle, condition, sieve, and/or characterize fine metal and ceramic feedstock powders for cold spray using required PPE and quality protocols.
- Perform pre‑spray tasks (e.g., surface preparation, masking) and post‑spray tasks (e.g., run documentation, data compilation) to ensure compliance with work instructions and production needs.
- Assemble and modify existing fixtures and tooling to support part fabrication.
- Create robotic toolpaths with path‑planning software and perform cold spray operations using multi‑axis robotics. Relevant trainings will be provided as needed.
- Read and work from various CAD files and part schematics.
- Operate a variety of hand tools and metal fabrication equipment, including drills, grinders, mini mills, lathes, drill presses, belt sanders, etc.
- Perform regular maintenance on machines, equipment, tools, etc., such as powder feeder clean‑out and nozzle change‑out.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment for all employees by following company safety rules, regulations, and procedures. Enforce and adhere to all PPE requirements. Contribute to a safety‑first culture by identifying risky situations.
- Occasionally travel to testing sites for field testing and demonstrations.
- Quick learner with excellent problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent time management and workflow coordination with the ability to complete tasks on time.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy and safety.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform repetitive tasks.
- Ability to stand and work on their feet for extended periods.
- Manual lathe and mill experience.
- Flexible to work with multiple teams on varying projects.
- High school diploma required, bachelor’s or associate degree preferred.
- Experience with cold spray, additive manufacturing, and/or coatings is preferred.
- Experience with CNC machining, surface finishing, heat treatment, and/or 3D printing preferred.
- AutoCAD, Solid Works, or Mastercam experience a plus.
English. Must read, write, speak, and present ideas effectively.
Computer SkillsStandard analytical computer skills; MS Office.
