The Bilingual School Social Worker will be part of the Student Support Team at Phoenix Charter Academy. They will work in a dynamic school environment that values collaboration and teamwork. The Social Worker will be responsible for case management, referral management, and coordination with staff, adult supporters, and community agencies. Bilingual candidates who are fluent in English and Spanish or English and Portuguese are preferred.
Responsibilities:
* Internalize the mission of Phoenix Charter Academy and uphold the scholar code of conduct at all times.
* Meet with individual scholars to provide counseling based on their individual needs, IEPs, or 504 plans to support their academic success.
* Create and maintain relationships and formal partnerships with local mental health and family counseling agencies, as well as other partners who can offer services to Phoenix scholars and families in need.
* Be the clinical part of the Student Support Team, providing consultation and crisis intervention for scholars with and without IEPs and 504s.
* Develop personal relationships with all scholars, conveying the importance of academic work and supporting their success in college and post-secondary endeavors.
* Collaborate with BEST teams and outside psychologists to obtain assessments and higher levels of care for scholars.
* Reach out to parents and adult supporters to discuss and address the clinical needs of scholars.
* Manage intakes and reporting, including counseling intakes and Medicaid paperwork.
* Assist staff and personnel in managing and processing scholar disclosures of confidential and privileged information.
* Coordinate and case manage scholars in hospital or residential settings or treatment programs.
* Attend IEP and other meetings for scholars receiving special education services.
* Design and implement social-emotional support groups based on the needs of the current scholar body.
* Provide psycho-education to personnel regarding social and emotional disabilities and well-being.
* Collect and analyze data on social work activities to support scholar achievement and organizational strategies.
* Collaborate with the school nurse and Student Support Team on medication issues, pregnant scholars, and scholars with chronic illnesses.
* Support new scholar orientations and occasionally work shifts at the Student Support Center.
* Work as part of the Student Support Team during the summer, including retention and re-engagement efforts, training new staff, and other tasks assigned.
* Participate in meetings with the Student Support Team to ensure that the growth goals of Phoenix scholars are being met.
* Commit to professional growth through feedback, reflection, tackling challenging tasks, and attending professional development meetings/trainings.
Qualifications:
* A Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in a related subject, such as school psychology or counseling, is preferred.
* Minimum of 2 years of experience preferred, including practicum and related graduate fieldwork.
* Licensure as a School Social Worker or School Adjustment Counselor (MA License, Initial or Professional).
* Spanish or Portuguese language skills are highly preferred.
* Employment is contingent upon meeting the qualifications for the role and passing a background check.
