Job Description

Shore Educational Collaborative is a multi-service agency providing services for people with disabilities. Our school for students from pre-kindergarten to age 22 is hiring a School Adjustment Counselor to work with Elementary students.

The School Adjustment Counselor will work with Elementary students who struggle socially, emotionally, or behaviorally, helping them to maximize their educational opportunities by teaching problem solving, conflict resolution, and coping strategies.

This position is for the 2026/27 School Year, however, there is an opportunity to work during the 2026 Summer Enrichment Program from July 6 to July 31.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct services to students who require counseling in order to access curriculum and instruction.
  • Develop and implement measurable goals and objectives which address students' emotional needs.
  • Provide interventions for students in crisis.
  • Provide strategies, support, and resources to help teachers manage social/emotional issues in the classroom.
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with families and with various social agencies within the community and make referrals as needed.
  • Assess students in short-term evaluation programs and develop written reports to provide to members of the student's team.
  • Attend IEP meetings and provide evidence of student progress toward goals and objectives.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of student progress (clinical notes).
  • Facilitate social skills groups.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience with students with emotional disabilities.
