Title: Occupational Therapist (District-Wide) (SY26-27)
About Chelsea Public Schools: The Chelsea Public Schools (CPS) is a gateway school system that welcomes and educates all students and families. CPS supports more than 6,300 students across 11 schools, including a pre‑K‑1st grade school, 4 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, 2 high schools, and a virtual school. CPS is culturally responsive and values multilingualism as an asset to student growth.
Job Responsibilities- Provide indirect and direct occupational therapy services for students with disabilities in individual, small group, or classroom settings.
- Attend and participate in IEP meetings and develop IEPs.
- Follow documented treatment plans and submit service delivery logs for direct services.
- Prepare regular progress notes of student progress toward IEP goals and objectives.
- Attend and participate in professional learning team meetings monthly with other related service providers.
- Attend regular staff and department meetings.
- Provide consultation and training to school staff.
- Other duties as assigned by the Administrator of Special Education and Pupil Personnel Director.
- Valid Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education licensure as an Occupational Therapist.
- Experience working with a diverse population.
- Licensed as an Occupational Therapist in Massachusetts.
- Knowledge of integration and inclusive models of instruction, differentiated instruction and response to intervention, curriculum modifications, behavior management strategies, and learning styles.
- Ability to perform and interpret psychological evaluations, including projectives; provide individual and small group therapy to school‑age students; and work closely and harmoniously with parents, teachers, and administrators.
- Knowledge of special education programs and regulations.
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
- Bilingual in Spanish.
- Experience working in a school setting.
All teachers are members of the Chelsea Teachers Union (CTU). The length of the school day is 6.5 hours, with possible extended hours for schools with an extended day. The work year consists of 184 days. See contract for salary information.
