Job Description

Title: Outreach Worker
- Early College Recruitment and Academic Success Specialist (SY26-27)

Note:

This position is contingent on funding through the Early College Support Grant for the SY 2026-27 through June 30, 2027.

Location: Chelsea High School

Reports to: Early College and Career Pathways Coordinator & Building Principal

Job Responsibilities:
  • Supporting recruitment efforts: application sessions, assemblies, information sessions, placement processes, advising, developing presentations, orientations, and creating marketing materials.
  • Tracking attendance for each EC class and maintaining records so team members are aware and can access the records regularly.
  • Actively contacting students and families in order to build relationships to ensure awareness of Early College course expectations following up as needed and ensuring students are accessing supports (both at Chelsea High School and Higher Education Partner).
  • Attending weekly meetings with the CHS and BHCC Early College team; taking on student referrals and follow up with the team in a timely manner and complete documentation.
  • Supporting intervention efforts for Early College students with documented plans and follow up.
  • Assisting with Family Nights and Family Engagement to help inform the community/families of the program, expectations of a college student, and orient families to the program.
  • Planning field trips that integrate into the Early College program visiting colleges and employers for students to build career awareness. Follow all field trip policies and track attendance of these events.
  • Supporting EC students (recipients of the City of Chelsea Scholarship) in the transition to college (BHCC) and connecting them with support services. Helping students apply to BHCC, access Financial Aid, complete registration and advising process and orientation.
  • Tracking and following up with City of Chelsea Scholarship recipients and communicating with the Early College team regarding each student’s progress. Re‑engage students in enrolling to the college by connecting them with admissions and college support services.
Qualifications

Required:
  • Associate’s Degree in a related field.
  • Effectively communicates and builds relationships with students and families.
  • Works collaboratively and thinks creatively with teams.
  • Familiarity with Google Suite, Canva, MEFA Pathways, College Board and other related software.
  • Minimum one year of relevant experience in student advising/support and working in an urban setting.
  • Desire to be part of a multilingual community and utilize various platforms to communicate effectively.
  • Experience working in a high school or college setting.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with diverse students/faculty/partners and families.
  • Excellent written and oral communication.
  • Current authorization to work in the United States – must have authorization by the first day of employment.
