Licensed Practical Nurse
Location:
Chelsea, MA. Rotating schedule, every other weekend. Position requires licensed practical nurse only, RNs will not be considered.
Under the supervision of a Nurse Manager, licensed clinical leader, or non‑clinical practice manager, and in collaboration with other team members, provides direct and indirect patient care in accordance with the scope of practice. This position requires patient care.
Essential Functions- Interview patients about current problems, medications, and allergies, and review medical records for pertinent information.
- Measure and record patients’ vital signs, including height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.
- Provide basic patient care and treatments such as dressing wounds, treating bedsores, administering enemas or douches, applying alcohol rubs, massaging, performing catheterizations, administering routine immunizations, nebulizer treatments, and visual acuity tests.
- Assist patients with bathing, dressing, maintaining personal hygiene, transferring in bed, and standing and walking.
- Participate in patient treatment regimen, including administering medications under the supervision of a physician and registered nurse.
- Communicate post‑visit findings and participate in the plan of care with appropriate clinical staff.
- Perform office responsibilities: answer phones, take messages, and triage within scope of licensed practical nursing practice accurately and in a timely manner.
- Collect samples such as blood, urine, or sputum from patients, and perform routine laboratory tests on samples.
- Prepare patients for examinations, tests, or treatments and explain procedures.
- Education:
Trade/Technical/Vocational Diploma – Licensed Practical Nurse required. - Licenses:
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) State License;
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification preferred. - Experience:
3–5 years of medical experience preferred. - Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Basic patient education, vital signs, medication administration (injection, IV, oral), ability to perform specific procedures and tests, professional communication skills.
