Job Description

This position is responsible for professional security protection, ensuring safety and security of assets, property, personnel, customers and visitors. Perform all appropriate related and unrelated duties, as directed. This is a physical security position.

The goal is to Detect, Deter, Observe and Report.

Minimum Qualifications

Be at least 21 years of age.

Meet all legal requirements to be able to work in the United States.

Must demonstrate good moral fitness and ethical standards.

Current and valid driver’s license in the state of Massachusetts.

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with staff and the public, to understand and follow standard operating procedures, to perform duties in a professional manner and appearance, to write and investigate required reports, to make independent and good judgment decisions within proper policy and procedures.

Must be detail oriented and have satisfactory literacy and writing, documentation, communications and interpersonal abilities.

Be able to work alone, responsibly and without supervision.

This position requires availability to work all shifts including day, swing, night, weekends and holidays. Capable of meeting the physical requirements below.

Prefer a good working knowledge of security operations, safety practices in a fast paced manufacturing environment and enforcement procedures and policies.

Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Description of Duties

Meeting the physical requirements of the job and the ability to work in the environmental conditions listed below to perform common security functions and duties.

Performing security patrols on foot.

Protect property from theft, sabotage, trespassing, fire and accidents.

The observation and reporting of any unlawful activity.

The prevention of theft or misappropriation of any goods, or other items of value.

The protection of individuals and property, including but not limited to proprietary information, from harm or misappropriation.

The control of access to premises being protected.

Crowd control in public areas.

Investigate and take the appropriate lawful action as authorized by State Garden on accidents, incidents, trespassing, suspicious activities, safety, and fire.

Neutralize situations calmly with tact and common sense.

Watch for safety and fire hazards and other security related situations.

Enforcing State Garden's policies and procedures.

Provide any needed assistance to employees, visitors, customers or the public.

Serve as training officer to new security staff;
Ability to communicate effectively in the English language, both verbally and in written form; required documentation by writing reports.

Perform other related duties as assigned by the Security Manager, Facilities manager.

Drive a Company vehicle for work-related purposes.

Maintain the professional standards of State Garden's security department by following the policies and procedures of the company; obey the laws of the state of Massachusetts.

Be consistently at work on time and ensure work responsibilities are covered when absent. Arrives at meetings and appointments on time.

ENVIROMENTAL

Work is performed year-round, inside and outside buildings and/or vehicles with exposure to inclement weather and unpredictable crisis situations.

Manufacturing environment with high levels of noise, water, cold, wet, leaf processing and manufacturing machinery such as conveyor belts, chains, industrial scales, forklifts, etc.

Shift work required, including day, swing, night, weekends and holidays all year-round.

Work alone in poorly lit areas all hours, including nights.

Production and staging areas 35 +/- degrees at all times.

PHYSICAL

Navigating distances and times:

Comfortably navigate a security round per hour. Rounds can vary from a distance of 1/8th of a mile to 1+ mile.

Hourly round times can range from 15 minutes to 50 minutes of physical patrol time to protect various facilities.

Navigating environments includes:

Inside buildings.
Outside in the elements and inclement weather conditions.
Surfaces and environmental terrain can vary from (but not limited to); carpet tile, wood, concrete, asphalt, grass, curbs, uneven gravel and dirt.

Surfaces can be slippery with water, ice, or snow in inclement weather.

Maneuver safely up and down flights of stairs multiple times per round or shift. Stairs can be inside or outside. Also to navigate up/down hilly terrain, over curbs and other obstacles.

Lift, carry or push weight in the following range: 5 to 60 pounds.

Continuously stand at an assigned post from 2 hours to 10 hours (with legal break times).

Salary $16/hr, Mon-Friday 11PM-7AM also looking for a weekend shift Saturday and Sunday only 7PM-8AM
