Box Truck Driver – Chelsea, MA

Hourly Rate: $18.00/hr we are seeking a reliable and customer‑focused Box Truck Driver with a minimum of one year of Bobtail truck experience to join our team in Chelsea, MA.

Responsibilities
  • Load, transport, and deliver items to customers or businesses in a timely, friendly, and courteous manner.
  • Review orders before and after delivery to ensure that orders are complete, the charges are correct, and the customer is satisfied.
  • Watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure that the bobtail truck is operating properly.
  • Take and follow directions from dispatcher, adhere to assigned routes, follow time schedules, use route navigation apps, and select alternative routes when necessary to deliver packages on time.
  • Assist with loading and unloading items from vehicles without interfering with operations at the customer’s place of business.
  • Provide excellent customer service, answer questions, and professionally handle complaints and concerns from customers.
  • Abide by all transportation laws and maintain a safe driving record.
  • Accept payments, prepare reports to include invoices, return forms, reconcile debt and credit, and handle all money collected related to deliveries.
  • When applicable, complete daily maintenance checks on the delivery vehicle and notify manager of any issues.
  • Assist in any and all other store or warehouse duties (stock, parts pulling, etc.) as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain and promote workplace safety.
  • Secure and transfer cash or other assets.
Qualifications
  • Current, valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to work weekends.
  • Minimum of one year verifiable Class C Bobtail truck driving experience.
  • Must meet company insurance requirements; drivers must be 21 years old or over.
  • Current valid automobile insurance with your name on the policy.
  • Ability to lift, move, push, and pull up to 50 pounds; prolonged sitting.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to manage, track, and account for money transactions and reconcile customer credit and debt balances.
  • Ability to utilize a tablet and/or mobile device for purposes of navigation/route optimization, tracking, and customer interface/signature capture.
  • Exceptional customer and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively, professionally, with tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to take and follow directions and work well with others as part of a team.
  • Flexible schedule with the ability to work overtime as needed (preferred).
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for moving freight and materials.
  • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, and national laws.
  • Knowledge of laws, EPA regulations, DOT regulations, and OSHA regulations.
  • Knowledge of identifying potential safety risks ahead of time.
  • Previous delivery driving experience is a plus.
  • Must meet all of the above minimum “Requirements and Qualifications” and “Knowledge,
