Vacancy Overview

School of Play delivers wraparound care, holiday camps and sports provision across 36+ primary schools in Greater Manchester. We're looking for a Level 3 Early Years apprentice to join our wraparound team In Prestbury, working directly in school settings before and after the school day.

This isn't a sit-and-watch apprenticeship. You'll be on the floor from day one, running activities, supporting children's development and learning how childcare works in a fast-paced, multi-site business. You'll be paired with experienced staff and work towards your Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification while earning a wage

What You'll Be Doing
  • Supporting the delivery of breakfast and after‑school club sessions across one or more partner primary schools
  • Planning and running age‑appropriate activities for children aged 3-11
  • Supervising children during free play, structured activities and meal/snack times
  • Supporting children's emotional, social and physical development
  • Maintaining a safe, clean and well‑organised environment
  • Following safeguarding procedures and reporting concerns through the correct channels
  • Building relationships with children, parents and school staff
  • Completing apprenticeship coursework, observations and portfolio work alongside your shift work
What You'll Learn

You'll work towards the Level 3 Early Years Educator apprenticeship standard, covering:

  • Child development from birth to 7 years
  • Safeguarding and child protection practice
  • Health, safety and risk management in childcare settings
  • Working with parents, carers and external agencies
  • Planning and delivering activities that support learning through play
  • SEND awareness and inclusive practice
Who We're Looking For
  • A genuine interest in working with children — this comes through more than any qualification
  • Reliable, on time, and able to commit to a regular working pattern
  • Comfortable being active and hands‑on, not stuck behind a desk
  • Good communicator with both children and adults
  • No formal childcare experience needed — we'll teach you. Attitude matters more than CV
