Super Flex Roadside Mechanic
Join the RAC as a Super Flex Roadside Mechanic. You’ll provide the adaptability that our service relies on.
Pay & Hours- Basic salary £50,669 per year (potential to earn up to £57,000 with bonuses and overtime)
- Weekly variety – work an average of 40 hours per week, roster released seven days in advance with core hours confirmed three days prior
- Shifts between 06:00 and 02:00; will include early mornings, evenings, weekends and bank holidays
You’ll be part of the Cheltenham cluster, covering Cheltenham, Gloucester, Tewkesbury, Stroud, Cirencester (south), and Cotswold towns. Work is organised locally so you can start and finish at home.
Responsibilities- Respond to roadside assistance calls and restore members to safety
- Diagnose and repair vehicle faults using technical, electrical and diagnostic skills
- Provide a customer‑focused service, calmly handling each call‑out
- Maintain and manage your van and tool kit, keeping it stocked and fully operational
- Complete and submit accurate service reports
- Adapt to changing situations – e.g., fault diagnostics, flat tyre or flat battery – within the same shift
- Travel to various locations and, when required, undertake overnight stays
- Level 2 light vehicle maintenance qualification (or equivalent)
- Demonstrated technical, electrical and diagnostic experience
- Full UK driving licence
- Customer‑focused approach
- Flexibility to work on short notice and accept travel and overnight stays if necessary
- Own RAC van, fuel card, full uniform, essential tools and diagnostic kit supplied
