2025-26 SCHOOL YEAR
POSITION:
IEP Support, Instructional Para educator (IP)* (Several Positions Available)
* Assignment may include:
After-School Detention (ASD), Alternative Learning Experience (ALE), Bus Supervision (a.m./p.m.), Categorical Programs (LAP/Title), Community Transitions, General Classroom, IEP Support, In-School Intervention (ISI), Library, Locker Room Supervision, Lunch/Recess Supervision, Office Support, PE, Preschool, Resource Room
SCHEDULE:
7 hours per day;
Start/end times dependent on building location and student need between the hours of 7:20 a.m.
-4:00 p.m.;
Monday-Friday;

COMPENSATION:
$18.39-$23.19/hour depending on comparable experience;
Pay is annualized over 12 months (if hired after start of school year, spread over remaining months of fiscal year (Sept-Aug))
Some assignments include an additional $1.00/hour for hygiene-related duties - see specific absence within substitute system for details
OTHER COMPENSATION:
For para educator positions only:
* $1.00/hour additional pay for positions assigned student hygiene duties as a regularly-scheduled part of daily duties
* Degrees eligible for a salary enhancement as follows, regardless of degree program or position with the district (cannot be stacked in the case of multiple degrees (highest degree stipend will be applied))
* AA, BA, MA degree, or PhD, adds $0.50/hour, $1.00/hour, $1.50/hour, $2.00/hour, respectively
* BENEFITS:

QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent;
Passing score (455) on state-approved Para educator Assessment, OR hold AA degree or higher OR have earned 72 quarter or 48 semester credits with college-level courses (100 level or higher)*;
Current first aid/CPR card (training may be provided by District); WSP/FBI criminal history background clearance
Documentation will be required upon hire

We are seeking student support positions in nearly all buildings. Please utilize the cover letter area to indicate buildng/area of choice, as needed (e.g., Betz/Snowdon, Airway Heights/West Plains, Town of Cheney, etc.).
* These positions are assigned by Student Support Services and provide IEP-designated support to specific students.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Paraeducators are an integral part of the learning and teaching team. Under the direction of the principal or designee, para educators assist with multiple levels of support in schools. The instructional para educator assists in providing instruction to and supervision of students in a variety of settings. These settings include, but are not limited to: cafeterias/eating areas, classrooms, playground/recess, crosswalks, hallways, and bus/loading areas.
ALE are non-traditional learning environments that provide expanded learning opportunities for students. ASD/ISI provides a safe and focused educational environment for students while they are assigned after-school detention or are removed from the regular classroom, respectively. Community Transitions provides life skills and workplace training support to students ages 18-21. IEP Support para educators provide services to a specific student or program as defined within the IEP.
LAP/Title provides targeted assistance to students with specific academic needs. Preschool para educators foster learning through intentional play, exploration and language-rich environments. Resource Room supports and delivers systematic instruction designed by special education teacher. The instructional para educator may also perform clerical and office tasks in support of teachers and other district staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
An instructional para educator may perform all or some of the responsibilities defined below:
* Support implementation of teacher designed instructional activities and classroom routines
* Conduct teacher/therapist-designed instructional experiences
* Work with individual and small groups of students
* Supervise, model, and teach expected behaviors across educational settings, including classrooms, lunchroom, playground, hallways, etc.
* Implement individual and school wide behavior support plans and positive interventions
* Implement district-adopted de-escalation strategies
* Foster social and language development through play activities and active engagement with children
* Promote students' best interests through positive role modeling and student advocacy
* Administer assessment materials as trained or delegated
* Assist in preparation of instructional materials and perform clerical duties associated with general instruction program
