POSITION: Student Safety & Access Specialist (Leave Replacement through 05/20/2026)
ASSIGNMENT: May include:
After-School Detention (ASD), Alternative Learning Experience (ALE), Bus Supervision (a.m./p.m.), Categorical Programs (LAP/Title), Community Transitions, General Classroom, IEP Support, In-School Intervention (ISI), Library, Locker Room Supervision, Lunch/Recess Supervision, Office Support, PE, Preschool, Resource Room
SCHEDULE: 8 hours per day; 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. (start/end times may be adjusted based on student/building need);
Monday–Friday;
School Year
LOCATION: ALE Sites** (Position may shift between ALE sites as needed: TSHS, Home Works!, WIN)
SUPERVISOR: Building Principal(s)
POSITION TYPE: Classified, Leave Replacement through 05/20/2026
COMPENSATION: $23.36–$28.20/hour
** depending on comparable experience;
Pay is annualized over 12 months (if hired after start of school year, spread over remaining months of fiscal year (Sept–Aug))
OTHER COMPENSATION:
- For para educator positions only: $1.00/hour additional pay for positions assigned student hygiene duties as a regularly‑scheduled part of daily duties
- Degrees eligible for a salary enhancement as follows, regardless of degree program or position with the district (cannot be stacked in the case of multiple degrees – highest degree stipend will be applied): AA, BA, MA degree, or PhD – adds $0.50/hour, $1.00/hour, $1.50/hour, $2.00/hour respectively

QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent; post‑secondary learning in the areas of education, psychology, sociology, or a related field; minimum of one year experience in youth supervision of adolescent‑aged students in activity and/or learning environment(s); previous experience in a security‑related role preferred; training and/or experience in Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS) preferred
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Ensure that safety and access procedures meet all students’ needs for a safe and positive building climate that enables all students, including students receiving specialized services, to thrive at CHS
- Demonstrate knowledge of school safety plans and systems to cultivate a positive school culture and student experience
- Be highly visible and present throughout the school day in hallways and readily available to address questions, issues of concern, and provide student support
- Listen attentively to concerns expressed by staff, students, and patrons
- Respond authentically and directly to issues and concerns of building safety and follow a consistent process for addressing concerns
- Maintain a safe and orderly learning environment by implementing effective and positive methods of student discipline in compliance with state laws and district policies
- Support and implement a positive school climate based on the principles of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports
- Provide thoughtful collaboration for decisions that require school‑wide commitment for implementation
- Set clear expectations for successful building safety procedures
- Create actions students and staff can take together to support a building environment centered on student safety and belonging
- Attend numerous and varied school, co‑curricular, and athletic events
- Supervise, model, and teach expected behaviors across educational settings, including classrooms, lunchroom, hallways, fields, gyms, playgrounds, etc.
- Implement individual and school‑wide behavior support plans and positive interventions
- Implement district‑adopted de‑escalation and restraint strategies
- Promote students’ best interests through positive role modeling and student advocacy
