Eastern Washington University - American History Adjunct Faculty
The Department of History, Anthropology, and Modern Languages and Literature at Eastern Washington University seeks applications for an adjunct faculty member who will develop and teach an accelerated, asynchronous online graduate reading seminar in Contemporary American History. The seminar offers a thematic emphasis in areas such as gender, race and ethnicity, the environment, and other topics at the discretion of the instructor.
Responsibilities- Develop the course in partnership with EWU staff and consultants from Risepoint, receiving a stipend for course development.
- Work with EWU staff during course development.
- Teach the class, including student communication and grading.
- Maintain professional and consistent communication with EWU staff and faculty as needed.
Screening will begin immediately, and the first course is scheduled to begin in September 2026. The course will be taught at least three times a year at an adjunct pay rate of at least $4,500 per class.
Required Qualifications- Ph.D. or ABD in American History.
- Two years of teaching experience at the college level; online experience preferred.
- Graduate‑level coursework experience or upper‑level teaching experience in contemporary American history.
- Passing criminal and misconduct background checks.
- Experience with Canvas CMS.
- Experience teaching at the graduate level.
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness in an online environment.
Compensation
:
Course development compensation and rights go to the university, plus $4,500 to $5,250 for teaching each section of the class, based on enrollment.
