Salary
: $59,028 – $115,278 per year (dependent on prior district experience)
Additional Compensation
- Professional Development and Supply Allocation Funds: $700 per FTE annually
- New Certified Staff Funds: $400 one‑time reimbursement for employees with one year or less prior teaching experience
High school teacher responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing instruction in mathematics, aligning with Washington State Math Standards and Common Core State Standards. Provides instruction in large, small, and individual settings, using a variety of instructional and assessment strategies. Collaborates with teachers, staff, families, and community partners to support student success and equity.
Essential Functions- Demonstrate knowledge of current trends in high‑school math curriculum and instructional techniques.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials.
- Create, implement, and maintain student learning plans.
- Apply Common Core State Standards and Washington State Math Standards.
- Use assessment strategies, including preparing students for End of Unit Exams and the SBAC.
- Work collaboratively with other teachers to evaluate and improve programs.
- Communicate student progress to students, families, and staff.
- Maintain a positive classroom environment using appropriate guidance, discipline, and classroom‑management techniques.
- Understand the emotional, physical, intellectual, and social needs of adolescent students.
- Employ current technology with a multimedia approach to instruction.
- Deliver instruction in large groups, small groups, and individualized settings.
- Analyze data to identify student needs and challenges.
- Advocate for equity and access, achievement, and opportunities for all students.
- Communicate effectively with children, families, staff, community members, and administrators.
- Plan, implement, and evaluate classroom instruction and activity programs.
- Prescribe learning and training programs for individual students based on aptitude, interest, and achievement levels.
- Apply instructional techniques to content areas.
- Communicate school programs to students and families.
- Motivate high‑school youth and foster a positive attitude toward learning.
- Participate in student activities and sponsorship.
- Adapt instruction for students from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds.
- Ensure safe use of materials, equipment, and facilities.
- Collaborate with families, teachers, and community organizations to support student success.
- Organize and prioritize daily, weekly, and monthly schedules for timely work completion.
- Participate in building‑ and department‑level meetings.
- Attend department meetings, staff meetings, and trainings.
- Engage in district/building Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).
- Maintain highest degree of confidentiality.
- Model appropriate behavior in alignment with District policies and expectations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge of: Current trends in education; general education and instructional support curriculum and activities for secondary students; OSPI rules and regulations regarding teacher certification; OSPI Code of Professional Conduct; professional practices.
Abilities: Work collaboratively with administrators, classified staff, and teachers; communicate clearly verbally and in writing; utilize technology; maintain emotional control under stress; meet multiple deadlines; work alone and in teams; maintain good rapport with supervisors, colleagues, students, and the public.
Qualifications- Valid Washington State Teacher Certificate with math endorsement.
- WSP/FBI criminal history background clearance.
Paid leave. If utilizing flexible hours/schedule, position must generate at least 630 work hours in the current school year to qualify for benefits: medical, dental, vision, basic life and AD&D insurance; retirement plan; deferred compensation (DRS and TSA).
