The College of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (CSTEM) at Eastern Washington University is currently seeking skilled and team-oriented applicants for the following position:
Instructional Classroom Support Technician 2 to support the Department of Chemistry, Biochemistry and Physics. The ICST 2 position provides professional instructional support by assisting faculty with experiments, demonstrations, and program development across academic, technical, and field-based settings. The role applies scientific or technical knowledge to implement, adapt, or modify existing instructional activities using standard methods, support undergraduate courses and involves limited design or development work rather than independent research or teaching.

Position focus is on operations, safety, instructional support, and compliance.

• Set-up and prepare reagents, materials, equipment and manage chemical waste disposal for both upper and lower division physics and chemistry labs
• Assist faculty with preparation of reagents and equipment for physics and chemistry demonstrations
• Support and assist students in physics and chemistry laboratories
• Implement laboratory policies and procedures as required
• Conduct and support safety orientations for students and student employees
• Inspect and monitor safety equipment
• Monitor the proper disposal of chemical waste and support its disposal
• Maintain chemical inventory, tracking systems and stockroom organization
• Perform routine maintenance on laboratory instruments and equipment
• Advise faculty on student challenges encountered in laboratory settings
• Respond to laboratory emergencies
• Recommend improvements to laboratory procedures and operations
• Prepare and maintain reports related to laboratory operations

The salary for this position is $48,996 (minimum) up to $56,700. Where the candidate will begin within the range is dependent on education, experience, and skills.
