Overview
Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, create component repair documentation suitable for FAA and/or airline approval. Create manufacturing data needed to fabricate components, printed circuit boards and other items to support the repair of aircraft components. Support the repair station technicians by providing technical assistance, test and assembly fixture creation, and detailed procedures.
Responsibilities- Reverse engineer, troubleshoot, and repair various aircraft components, both electrical and mechanical, using manual and automatic measuring equipment.
- Establish measurement tolerances using accepted industry practices and review of next higher assemblies.
- Create, revise, and review designs using Solid Works 3D CAD Software platform and/or Altium PCB software.
- Design electrical or mechanical test fixtures and create written procedures.
- Create PMA (Parts Manufacturing Approval) and repair process supporting documentation packages for submittal to the FAA and/or customers.
- Research, collect data, and work with design teams to evaluate, select, adapt, and modify techniques, procedures and criteria to solve problems.
- Assist in supplier selection to manufacture fabricated or PMA parts.
- Release and maintain engineering documentation in a Product Lifecycle Management System.
- Support the goals of the repair station and the company’s core values.
- Support an engineering team environment by sharing knowledge, collaborating, communicating clearly, and respecting other team members.
- Support scheduled project deadlines and keep tasks organized.
- Maintain a neat and organized work area.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Skills and Abilities
- College graduation with degree or demonstrated equivalent experience. Further knowledge and witnessed practice of company core values.
- Knowledge of document change control processes including Engineering Change Orders, Change Control Board practices and general revision control.
- Comfortable working alone or in a team environment.
- Understanding the importance of quality of work and maintaining a high level of excellence and integrity.
- Strong technical writing skills.
- Knowledge of computer programming languages such as C, Python, C# and
- Knowledge of Quality Management System (QMS) practices and familiarity with ISO certifications.
- Understanding regulatory requirements for airworthiness in accordance with FAA and various foreign authorities.
- Experience in quality control and new product development within the aviation industry.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, soldering, and safety equipment.
Education / Experience:
Bachelor's degree (Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering preferred) or equivalent as determined by the hiring manager.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical skills: work with probability, statistical inference, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning ability: apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands- Frequently required to talk or listen.
- Regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle or feel.
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and lift up to 30 pounds.
- Works in moderate noise levels.
- Minimal travel required.
