Medical Assistant-Certified

CHAS Health is expanding and seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient care and improve community health.

• Greets patients and escorts them to exam rooms; informs them of any time delays during the visit.
• Prepares patients for the provider and anticipates the provider’s needs to maintain efficient patient flow.
• Performs phlebotomy and laboratory procedures as directed by the provider.
• Administers and documents injections and immunizations.
• Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for patients; cleans, prepares, and sterilizes instruments.
• Assists the provider with procedures, examinations, and patient education.
• Obtains prescription refills under the provider’s direction and authorization.
• Manages patient referrals and required documentation.
• Observes and follows required safety protocols, including sharps disposal, use of personal protective equipment, exposure to blood‑borne pathogens, and general safety for employees and patients.
• Answers telephones, schedules patients, and supports care team members.
• Performs other duties assigned, including supporting CHAS Health’s mission and core values.

• Completion of a medical assistant training program approved by the Washington Department of Labor & Industries or an accredited college program (ABHES or CAAHEP).
• Certification with the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), National Health career Association (NHA), or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) within 120 days of hire.
• For Washington locations, a Medical Assistant – Certified credential issued by the Washington State Department of Health is required.
• Previous experience in a community health clinic preferred.
• Experience with an electronic health record (EHR) system preferred.
• Excellent customer‑service, oral and written communication skills.
• Compassion for patients.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Multi‑tasking ability in a fast‑paced setting and anticipation of future needs.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and accurate spelling.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (CPR/AED) required.
• Commitment to supporting a safe and respectful environment.

Medical Assistants are required to stand, sit, and be mobile one‑third to two‑thirds of the time. Hands are used to finger, handle, or feel objects more than two‑thirds of the time; reaching with hands and arms occurs frequently. Climbing or balancing occurs less than one‑third of the time; stooping, kneeling, or crouching occurs between one‑third and two‑thirds of the day. Talking or hearing occurs over two‑thirds of the day.

Lifting or exerting force up to 10 pounds occurs about 50% of the time, and lifting up to 25 pounds occurs less than one‑third of the time. Rarely is there a need to lift more than 26 pounds.

Compensation Range: $23.75 - $33.86 per hour.
