Job Summary

The College of Professional Programs, Family Resource and Training Center (FRTC) at Eastern Washington University seeks a part‑time Recruitment & Retention Coordinator (RC) to lead and coordinate the statewide recruitment of foster families for the Fostering Idaho Regional Recruitment and Retention program. The RC will work under the FRTC Director and partner with statewide contractors to implement the Diligent Recruitment Plan, oversee the Regional Recruitment Plan, supervise Resource Peer Mentors, and support retention activities.

Responsibilities

Recruitment

  • Lead regional Recruitment Advisory Councils (RAC)
  • Interact weekly with licensing workers to discuss recruitment needs
  • Develop and maintain community relationships to promote foster family recruitment
  • Implement the Diligent Recruitment Plan and develop the regional recruitment plan
  • Organize, facilitate, and present at public events
  • Provide mentoring support to Resource Peer Mentors (RPMs)
  • Maintain comprehensive records of recruitment activities using data collection tools

Retention

  • Provide training and support to RPMs on fostering families
  • Collaborate with child welfare staff to develop special retention activities (e.g., Foster Family Appreciation, National Adoption Month)

Administrative

  • Report to the FRTC Director on issues, concerns, and recommendations related to the RPM program and recruitment plans
  • Assist in the hiring and onboarding of RPMs
  • Schedule and facilitate monthly staff meetings with RPMs
  • Monitor social media activity on regional pages
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree OR
    • Associate’s Degree in Social Work, Behavioral Science, Child Development, Education, or related field AND at least two (2) years professional experience within the child welfare system
    • At least two (2) years of experience in program/project management, recruitment, or a related field, including supervision of staff AND at least two (2) years within the child welfare system
  • Three years of professional experience in social services
  • Knowledge of trauma‑informed care and the complex needs of children and families in foster care
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong leadership and/or supervisory skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and database management
  • Experience with creative design/marketing
  • Ability to travel as needed, up to 30%
  • Responsive and flexible approach to support diverse student, faculty, and staff needs
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least two (2) years supervisory experience
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in social services
Benefits

Competitive salary for a 50% position: $27,785.50 – $29,000 (dependent on education, experience, and skills). Comprehensive benefits include health insurance, life and disability insurance, retirement, tuition waiver for employees and eligible family members, and paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave. Additional fringe benefits are available.

Conditions

of Employment

Position requires successful completion of a background check and compliance with EWU’s immunization policy. Employees must be authorized to work in the U.S. No visa sponsorship is available. The role is an Administrative Exempt position as defined by EWU policy. Training will be completed via Castle and ongoing professional development will be required.
