The Camden County Workforce Development Board, Inc. (CCWDB) is a nonprofit organization responsible for providing workforce development leadership, oversight, and coordination for Camden County. CCWDB works with employers, community organizations, educational institutions, government agencies, and workforce partners to develop and support programs that connect individuals with employment, education, training, and career opportunities. CCWDB oversees and administers workforce development initiatives supported by federal, state, county, private, and other funding sources.

Position Summary

CCWDB is seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Finance and Administration team. The Staff Accountant will support the organization's accounting and financial operations, including general accounting, grant accounting, cost allocation, financial reporting, and fiscal monitoring of grant subrecipients. This position is an important part of CCWDB's three-person financial management structure and will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Executive Director to maintain accurate financial records, strong internal controls, and compliance with applicable fiscal and grant requirements.

Key Responsibilities Accounting & Financial Operations

Perform day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, general ledger entries, journal entries, reconciliations, cash transactions, and maintenance of accurate financial records and supporting documentation.

Record and monitor expenditures by grant and funding source; assist with grant reporting, reimbursement requests, and drawdowns; prepare supporting schedules; and assist with cost allocation in accordance with CCWDB's approved Cost Allocation Plan.

Fiscal Monitoring of Grant Subrecipients

Assist with and conduct assigned fiscal monitoring of grant subrecipients, including reviewing financial records, expenditures, payroll, timesheets, procurement documentation, and other supporting records. Document monitoring activities and findings, maintain monitoring files, and track corrective actions.

Payroll & Financial Administration

Assist with payroll accounting and personnel cost allocations, credit card reconciliations, fixed asset and inventory records, procurement documentation, and other financial and administrative activities.

Prepare financial schedules and reports, assist with budget-to-actual reporting, reconcile financial information, monitor expenditures, and identify discrepancies or unusual activity for review by the CFO.

Audit, Monitoring & Compliance

Prepare documentation for audits and fiscal monitoring reviews; assist with responses to auditors, grantors, and government oversight agencies; support corrective action efforts; and maintain records demonstrating compliance with applicable accounting, grant, and fiscal requirements.

Internal Controls & Fiscal Accountability

Follow established accounting policies, segregation-of-duties requirements, and internal controls. Maintain accurate and timely records and promptly identify and report financial discrepancies, unsupported expenditures, or potential compliance concerns to the CFO.

Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • Proficiency in Quick Books Pro Accounting Software
  • Experience performing accounting functions such as accounts payable, general ledger, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Strong understanding of fundamental accounting principles.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to analyze financial records and identify discrepancies.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidential financial and personnel information.
  • Ability to work independently while following established policies and procedures.
Preferred
  • Experience in nonprofit accounting.
  • Experience with federal, state, county, or other grant-funded programs.
  • Experience with grant accounting and fiscal monitoring of subrecipients.
  • Knowledge of cost allocation methodologies.
  • Knowledge of federal grant requirements, including Uniform Guidance.
  • Experience preparing for or responding to audits and fiscal monitoring reviews.
  • Experience with accounting software and payroll systems.
