Our client is seeking an experienced Construction Observer to support a wide range of public infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with 5+ years of construction observation experience who thrives in the field and enjoys working collaboratively with engineers, contractors, and public stakeholders.
The Construction Inspector will play a critical role in ensuring projects are executed in compliance with contract documents, specifications, and applicable codes.
Project types include:- Water supply and distribution systems
- Sanitary sewer collection and treatment systems
- Stormwater systems
- Roadway construction
- Municipal, county, state, federal, and transportation authority projects
- Serve as Resident Project Representative and act as liaison between the Engineer and Contractor.
- Monitor daily construction activities to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and contract requirements.
- Attend pre-construction meetings and weekly progress meetings.
- Document daily site activities, including labor, equipment, installed quantities, and field conditions.
- Maintain accurate project records and prepare detailed daily reports.
- Review contractor payment applications and provide recommendations to the Engineer.
- Develop punch lists at substantial completion and assist with final inspections and project closeout.
- Perform field inspections independently and as part of a project team.
Required:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 5+years of construction observation or inspection experience
- Valid Driver’s License
Preferred:
- Associate’s degree in Construction Technology, CAD, or related field
- NICET Certification
Physical Requirements
This position is primarily field-based and requires travel to project sites and regional offices. Work may involve exposure to varying weather conditions.
Physical requirements include:- Walking and standing for extended periods
- Climbing ladders
- Entering confined or tight spaces
Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds - Use of computers and mobile technology for reporting and documentation
