Chief Financial Officer – Cherry Hill Fire Department.Is seeking a highly qualified and detail-oriented professional to fill the full-time position of Chief Financial Officer. Under the direction of the Chief of the Department, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) plans, directs, and administers all work pertaining to the management of the financial resources of the Fire District. The Cherry Hill Fire District currently operates on a 35-million-dollar budget with approximately 200 full and part-time employees.
The CFO holds the authority to make decisions necessary to execute mandated duties and ensures the fiscal health of the organization. This executive role involves directing a comprehensive financial management program, including budget preparation, accounting, financial analysis, managerial reporting, cost-benefit analysis, and auditing. The CFO evaluates program accomplishments in financial terms, comparing performance against operating plans to promote efficiency and economy.
Responsibility also includes developing and implementing financial policies and maintaining a system of internal controls to provide management with effective financial oversight. The CFO must possess a mastery of governmental budgeting practices, public fund statutes, and internal auditing procedures. Essential abilities include directing complex financial programs, applying sound independent judgment to solve fiscal problems, and maintaining effective working relationships across all Divisions.
Knowledge of Budgeting & Public Funds, Coordinating the General Ledger, Accounts Payable, and Tax Reporting. The CFO prepares annual financial statements, debt statements, and compiles all information for the annual audit. Operations & Purchasing:
Oversees the Purchasing Department and administers insurance coverage, including commercial, health benefits, and vehicle coverage. Payroll & Pension:
Provides guidance to the Payroll Administrator, reviews payroll prior to submission and ensures timely contributions to the DCRP and HSA. The CFO also serves as the Certifying Officer Supervisor for pension enrollments and transfers. Human Resources:
Oversees healthcare enrollment, serves as the administrator for the Benefit Solver platform, and ensures accurate calculation of member health care contributions.
Bachelor’s degree or Higher in Accounting, Budgeting, Finance, Economics, or Public/Business Administration is required. Preferred Experience is five to seven years in functional areas of financial management, such as accounting, auditing, or fiscal analysis. Candidates with a strong understanding or progressive experience in Fire District, Governmental Financial or Municipal Treasury would be ideal. Edmunds experience along with a mastery knowledge in Excel is also preferred.
Salary Range for this position is $110,000-$140,000 but is negotiable based on qualifications and experience.
