Job Overview
Medical Clerk for fast-paced Surgical facility. The Medical Clerk assists the Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) department in managing surgical and medical documentation. Follows facility policy and protocol to meet the needs of the patient, ASC, department, and physician. The clerk may have additional duties within the Surgical Center, as assigned and in alignment with the needs of the ASC.
Minimum Qualifications- High School Diploma preferred
- Experience in a surgical facility preferred
- Proficient in MS Office applications which include Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point
- Considers priorities and special needs when preparing files and charts for upcoming cases.
- Performs all duties under the guidance of the PAT RN's, DON, and/or Administrator or designee.
- Coordinates surgical preoperative appointment schedule with clinical preoperative activates.
- Maintains schedule according to procedure and physician’s time.
- Identifies conflicts in patient records and reviews with PAT nurses and/or supervisors.
- Assumes clerical duties and responsibilities as necessary
- May open and distribute mail according to Facility policy
- Coordinates obtaining diagnostic tests and places diagnostic test reports in appropriate section of patient medical record
- May perform other duties as assigned in the business office or clerical related areas.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
The employee must be able to lift and/or carry over 20 pounds on a regular basis and be able to push/pull over 25 pounds on a regular basis.
The employee must be able to stand and/or walk at least five hours per day.

Salary Range$45,000.00-$51,000.00/annual
