The Therapeutic Activities Coordinator is responsible for planning, directing and coordinating approved activity programs for patients in treatment. The Therapeutic Activities Coordinator is responsible for developing engaging activities and encouraging patient participation outside of programming hours. This position will be responsible for coordinating and facilitating community‑based activities for patients in PHP and IOP levels of care.
COREJOB DUTIES:
- Create engaging activities that will promote high levels of patient participation
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to ensure patient participation and attendance tracking
- Plans, organizes, and directs activities to facilitate patient recovery and well‑being which may include off‑site outings
- Coordinates and facilitates activities committee meeting to ensure distribution of monthly activities calendar
- Ensure inventory of supplies are provided on‑site
- Support treatment team with patient interventions and de‑escalation as needed
- Counsel and encourage patients to develop leisure activities
- Evaluate engagement and effectiveness of activities provided with the assistance of the Clinical Director
- Maintains positive relationships with all staff
- Maintains healthy boundaries with patients and staff
- Asks for and accepts feedback from supervisors
- Provides a safe and therapeutic environment to all staff and patients
- Communicates significant patient developments to supervisor
- Participates in Quality Improvement activities and contribute to the success of the organization
- Pursues professional development through participation in education and training programs
- Contributes positively to the morale of other staff members
- Performs other tasks as assigned
EDUCATION:
- Minimum high school diploma is required. Post‑secondary education is preferred
- Minimum of one (1) year experience preferred
- Good driving record that meets safety and company insurance standards
- National or State Certification in Recreation Therapy preferred
- CPR and Standard First Aid certification required
REQUIRED:
- Knowledge of Joint Commission Standards
- Adheres to the Association for Ambulatory Behavioral Healthcare Code of Ethics
- Knowledge of Joint Commission Standards
- Demonstrates Proficiency in Communication & Written skills
- Knowledge of Patient Confidentiality laws, Drug‑Free Workplace Policies, and Workplace Violence
