Engineering Manager - Manufacturing Process Improvement

Location: New Jersey

Workplace: On-site

Employment type: Full-time

An expanding packaging business is seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager to support manufacturing operations at its' New Jersey facility.

This role will focus on improving production efficiency, reducing waste, troubleshooting equipment and processes, and introducing consistent operating procedures across the manufacturing floor. You will work closely with production, maintenance and customer-facing teams, while supporting trials, training and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities:
  • Optimize manufacturing processes and reduce scrap
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures
  • Troubleshoot equipment and production issues
  • Monitor machine performance and improve operating conditions
  • Support customer trials and production runs
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities
  • Train production teams on process consistency and best practices
  • Use data to support operational and engineering decisions
  • Travel occasionally to company facilities or customer sites
About you:
  • Experience in manufacturing, production engineering or a similar environment
  • Strong understanding of production processes and continuous improvement
  • Practical, hands-on approach to problem-solving
  • Excellent analytical, communication and teamwork skills
  • Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced production environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field preferred
  • Experience in flexible packaging or converting would be advantageous
