Job Description
The New Brunswick Counseling Center Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) is actively seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join our team. This is a per-diem opportunity for both NBCC and our Mount Holly Location. As a Certified Nurse Practitioner, you will be a key member of our multidisciplinary team, which includes medical and behavioral health therapy professionals. Your primary responsibility will be to provide direct medical care to clients who are receiving treatment for opioid use disorder.
Responsibilities:
- Ensures that nursing services and program operations comply with State and Federal regulations through supervision and evaluation of program nurses;
- Ensures nursing/medication administration coverage during clinic operation hours;
- Conduct assessments of clients upon admission and gather medical, mental health, and substance use history.
- Conduct annual assessments of clients to gather and update medical, mental health, and substance use history.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate tests to identify and assess clients’ clinical problems and health needs (e.g., TB, HIV, Hepatitis, etc.) at admission.
- Monitor the medical status of clients who are pregnant, have HIV infection, and/or are medically fragile.
- Collaborate with the treatment team to provide nursing/medical recommendations for the patient’s plan of care.
- Triage clients to be seen by the Medical Supervisor and/or refer them to the hospital or appropriate and available medical services, tracking outcomes and providing follow-up as needed.
- Administer medications for opioid use disorder when appropriate, including injectables.
- Write prescriptions to treat Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and co-occurring disorders as appropriate.
- Monitor clients on psychotropic or other medications for side effects.
- Ensure that documentation is timely, accurate, and meets documentation standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- The applicant must have a four-year college degree from an accredited school of nursing, a master’s degree in nursing (MSN) and the nurse practitioner distinction (NP).
- The applicant is licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) and certified as a Family or Adult Nurse Practitioner in New Jersey with prescriptive authority or eligible for such licensure/certification.
- Has a waiver to prescribe Buprenorphine.
- Current AED/CPR certification with a minimum of two years’ experience practicing within specialty area or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
