Clinical Research Nurse
This Clinical Research Nurse role combines direct patient care with clinical trial coordination and data management in a fast-paced oncology research setting. The position focuses on recruiting and enrolling participants into clinical trials, ensuring consistent study implementation, maintaining high standards of data integrity, and supporting compliance with regulatory requirements and reporting. You will work closely with patients, research teams, and external partners while contributing to high-profile oncology drug trials at a prestigious academic research institute.
Responsibilities- Perform basic nursing skills in support of oncology clinical trials, providing safe and compassionate care to study participants.
- Collect and document clinical information and research data from study participants accurately and in a timely manner.
- Provide clear and thorough patient education about research studies, including study procedures, expectations, and potential risks and benefits.
- Obtain informed consent from potential participants in accordance with ethical and regulatory standards, and support their enrollment into clinical trials.
- Coordinate subject recruitment and enrollment activities to ensure that clinical trials meet accrual goals.
- Ensure consistency of study implementation across visits by following study protocols, standard operating procedures, and institutional policies.
- Manage data entry and data collection using electronic data capture (EDC) systems and other research databases, ensuring data quality and integrity.
- Maintain and update patient records and study documentation in compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and institutional requirements.
- Monitor study progress, track milestones, and assist in preparing required reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Interact regularly with consortium members and participating institutions involved in multi-site studies, fostering effective collaboration.
- Organize and schedule meetings with consortium members and study partners, including preparing agendas and coordinating logistics.
- Record, prepare, and distribute accurate meeting minutes to ensure clear communication and follow-up on action items.
- Support regulatory compliance by adhering to applicable guidelines, institutional policies, and sponsor requirements for clinical research.
- Contribute to the management and coordination of high-profile oncology drug trials, helping to ensure timely and successful study execution.
- Collaborate with a smaller, satellite campus team to balance patient-facing responsibilities with data management tasks.
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Pennsylvania.
- Nursing Diploma or Associate's Degree in Nursing;
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. - Minimum of 2 years of professional experience, including at least 1 year of RN clinical experience.
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical research experience.
- 2+ years of oncology experience working with oncology patients or oncology-focused clinical trials.
- Demonstrated experience in clinical research coordination, including subject recruitment and study coordination.
- Proficiency in collecting, entering, and managing clinical research data with strong attention to detail.
- Experience with electronic data capture (EDC) systems and data management tools used in clinical trials.
- Working knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines and regulatory requirements for clinical research.
- Experience obtaining and documenting informed consent in a research or clinical setting.
- Background in patient recruitment and enrollment for clinical trials.
- Ability to manage patient records and clinical trial documentation accurately and confidentially.
- Familiarity with oncology clinical trials and oncology research environments.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with patients, research teams, and external partners.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred and considered an asset.
- Some prior management or leadership experience is preferred.
- Experience working on high-profile studies with large, well-known sponsors.
- Experience collaborating with consortium members and multi-institutional research teams.
- Ability to organize, schedule, and facilitate meetings, including preparing and distributing minutes.
- Comfort working in both patient-facing and data-focused aspects of clinical research.
- Interest in professional growth and upward mobility within an academic research environment.
