Senior Director, Compound Development Team Leader – Oncology

Responsibilities

• Actively contributes to Compound Strategy decision-making
• Leads CDT in partnership with line functions
• Builds team effectiveness
• Challenges all functions on CDT for issue resolution
• Leads the development and maintenance of the compound development strategy
• Identifies potential issues and leads contingency planning
• Drives CDT to make effective decisions
• Leads resolution of conflict for partnered compounds and senior management
• Ensures successful implementation of clinical supplies strategy
• Accountable for overall budget and project plan deliverables
• Acts as co-chair of global project teams with Alliance partners
• Ensures lessons learned at critical nodes in development path
• Drives innovation by benchmarking
• Works with functional management for securing resources for project success
• Aligns goals and objectives with CDT members
• Provides input for performance evaluation of CDT members

• Preferred to hold a PhD, MD, or M.D./Ph.D with minimum 8-10 years or Masters with 10-12 years or equivalent experience in a leadership role
• Experience in leading clinical development programs in the appropriate TA
• Solid understanding of and involvement in the entire drug development process
• Proven ability to work cross-functionally with interdisciplinary teams
• Experience working in a matrix organization
• Business orientated, having managed resources and budgets
• Proven record of leading projects through successful transition from Discovery to Early Development
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Strong problem-solving skills for developing creative solutions
• Demonstrated ability for strategic thinking and contingency planning
• Expert knowledge of the drug development process
• Familiarity with pharmaceutical portfolio risk management
• Must understand requirements for successful commercialization of a new product
• Expert interpersonal skills for bridging between scientific and business participants
• Expert oral/written communication skills
• Expert critical and objective interpretation of scientific and commercial information
• Expert analytical skills for integrating and interpreting interdisciplinary project information
• High degree of organizational awareness and understanding of change management

Strong interpersonal and communication skills facilitate collaboration across interdisciplinary teams and ensure successful project transitions.
