Our client is seeking a detail‑oriented Staff Accountant for a direct‑hire opportunity in Chesapeake, VA. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys detailed research, accurate reconciliations, and supporting a smooth month‑end close process within a high‑volume, fast‑paced corporate environment.
The Staff Accountant will support financial control activities, general ledger reconciliations, journal entries, variance analysis, and audit preparation. This position offers a hybrid schedule with one remote day per week and the opportunity to work closely with cross‑functional teams while building depth in corporate accounting and financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities- Perform monthly financial statement reviews to ensure accuracy, completeness, and proper support.
- Prepare and complete monthly general ledger reconciliations for balance sheet accounts.
- Assist with month‑end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and variance analysis.
- Maintain organized, well‑documented work papers to support reconciliations, reporting, and audit requests.
- Research discrepancies and work cross‑functionally to resolve accounting issues in a timely manner.
- Support annual audit preparation by compiling schedules, documentation, and related financial information.

- Salary range: $70,000 to $75,000 annually, depending on experience.
