The Accounting Manager is responsible for maintaining the company's financial records and ensuring the timely and accurate processing of all accounting transactions. This individual will oversee payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, commission calculations, sales tax filings, and Quick Books management while assisting with monthly financial reporting.
This position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer.
Primary Responsibilities Payroll & Human Resources- Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time
- Maintain employee records and payroll documentation
- Administer payroll deductions and benefits
- Prepare annual W-2s and 1099s
- Process vendor invoices
- Schedule and prepare weekly payment runs
- Maintain vendor files
- Monitor cash requirements and upcoming obligations
- Generate invoices for sponsor ships, suites, ticket sales, advertising, and other revenue
- Monitor collections and aging reports
- Follow up on outstanding receivables
- Apply customer payments
- Calculate ticket sales commissions
- Calculate corporate sponsorship commissions
- Prepare monthly commission reports
- Ensure incentive plans are applied accurately
- Maintain Quick Books Online
- Record daily financial transactions
- Reconcile bank accounts and credit cards
- Maintain general ledger accuracy
- Record journal entries as directed by the CFO or CPA
- Assist with month-end close
- Prepare supporting schedules for the outside CPA
- Prepare and file Virginia sales tax returns
- Maintain business licenses and tax records
- Assist with annual audits and tax preparation
- Prepare weekly cash reports
- Prepare monthly financial reports
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting
- Track departmental spending
- Maintain organized accounting records
- Assist ownership with special financial projects
- Support game-day financial operations when needed
- Continuously improve accounting processes and internal controls
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
- Minimum 5 years of full-charge bookkeeping or accounting experience
- Advanced Quick Books Online experience required
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience processing payroll
- Experience with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
- Experience preparing sales tax returns
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Excellent communication skills
- Self-motivated with exceptional attention to detail
