Automotive Technician, Automotive Mechanic
Pay Range: $16.63 - $24.99. Technicians are compensated via flat‑rate pay, with a predetermined amount for each eligible task. Company funds A.S.E. certification fees and rewards passing each test.
Position SummaryThe Automotive Technician is a foundational role in the automotive service team. Under the guidance of experienced technicians, you learn to diagnose, repair, and maintain vehicles. You assist with routine inspections, vehicle assessments, and repair procedures, and you may interact with customers to explain repair work.
Responsibilities- Perform oil changes and other scheduled maintenance services.
- Inspect steering, suspension, and brake systems.
- Install batteries and check electrical systems.
- Perform tire maintenance.
- Install parts.
- Road test vehicles.
- Obtain or maintain A.S.E. certification in at least one of A1–A8 within first two years of employment. Company covers certification fees and rewards passing tests.
- Ability to learn basic mechanical tasks.
- Valid automobile driver’s license at all times; able to drive customer and company vehicles.
- Basic understanding of general automotive maintenance & tire repair, including:
- Oil changes
- Basic inspections
- Tire repair
- Reading, writing, and math skills.
- 2 years of automotive repair experience, completion of a vocational‑technical school program, or demonstrated skills via third‑party certificates or assessments.
- A.S.E. certification or equivalent external qualifications or training certifications.
