General
Summary:
Manages company-wide U.S. Import Compliance Program including development, deployment, training and
compliance monitoring. Oversee the day-to-day compliance operations including developing and
administering import practices and compliance programs, day-to-day interface with U.S. Customs and other
government agencies, customs brokers, and other service providers. Support international sourcing activities
by providing expertise in U.S. trade regulations and Customs requirements. Provide support in daily
operations of the Import Department and communicate information to appropriate internal departments.
PrincipalDuties & Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate classification, marking, country of origin and admissibility information to internal business units and outside service providers to ensure compliance with U.S. Customs regulations and other trade requirements.
- Oversee “Pre-Purchase Review Program” with FD merchant groups. Conduct daily audits and reviews of import purchase order activity, communicating all discrepancies to merchants, service providers, and other internal business units.
- Conduct daily review of status of all incoming shipments, interacting with U.S. Customs, customs brokers, and other parties as appropriate.
- Review Customs entries to determine that the goods were properly entered according to U.S. Customs and other government agencies.
- Develop and maintain a process for retrieving entries received from brokers for review purposes and for retrieval of the results of the review.
- Report discrepancies and action plan resulting from the entry reviews to the Director on a weekly basis.
- Ensure discrepancies resulting in the need for corrective action are dealt with in accordance with procedures.
- Manage all interactions with U.S. Customs, Food and Drug Administration, U.S. Department of Agriculture, etc. including, but not limited to Binding Rulings, Requests for Information, Notices of Redelivery, Notices of Action, Post Entry Revisions, Administrative Protests, etc.
- Conduct quarterly meetings with U.S. Customs’ port Commodity Specialists Teams concerning FD import activity.
- Oversee Company’s participation in Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism.
- Provide general support for all daily import logistics operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field. Master’s degree, preferred.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in international logistics and trade regulations with emphasis on imports and U.S. Customs regulations and procedures.
- Clear understanding of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, including General Rules of Interpretation and Explanatory Notes.
- U.S. Customs broker license, required.
- Superior written and verbal skills in English.
- Excellent PC skills.
