Associate Business Manager, Own Brands
Job Location s: US-VA-Chesapeake | US-VA-Norfolk | US-VA-Virginia Beach
As an Associate Business Manager, you will work under the guidance of senior Business Managers to develop and implement marketing plans for private label products. You will analyze sales trends, manage product development, and support supplier and retailer relationships to achieve growth objectives.
Responsibilities- Support specific private label products and categories through analysis and development of marketing plans, product promotions, advertising, in‑store displays, merchandising strategies, inventory forecasting, and category support for small categories.
- Assist with new product development and the product development process from ideation to shelf.
- Perform trend and sales data analysis to assist the Business Manager.
- Maintain routine interactions with a limited number of suppliers/customers under direct manager supervision.
- Communicate cost increases and related information with limited negotiating authority.
- Collaborate with suppliers, retailers, and internal cross‑functional teams to launch new items, update labels, and reformulate products.
- Manage client relationships within the retailers Private Label/Own Brand team and understand priorities.
- Negotiate brokerage rates, manage contracts, and negotiate pricing.
- Drive projects through project management processes, identifying risks and solutions.
- Advise the Business Manager on potential roadblocks and provide solutions.
- Support new business development and collaborate on client relationships.
- Provide guidance to colleagues as needed (direct or indirect reports).
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business or equivalent experience (or minimum 0‑2 years in Account or Brand Management).
- 2–4 years of experience in account or brand management.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Conflict management, decision‑making, and prioritizing skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Outlook, and web browsers.
