This is a full‑time, on‑site Marine Construction Estimator role based in Chesapeake, VA. The Marine Construction Estimator will prepare detailed cost estimates for marine and heavy civil projects, including bridges, piers, bulkheads, and related waterfront infrastructure. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include reviewing plans and specifications, performing quantity take‑offs, analyzing labor, equipment, and material costs, and developing bid proposals. The role will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, field supervisors, and subcontractors to validate project scopes, clarify technical requirements, and identify cost‑saving opportunities.
The Estimator will also assist with subcontractor and vendor solicitation, evaluate quotes, support project budgeting, and participate in bid reviews and negotiations to help ensure competitive and accurate pricing.
- Strong marine and/or heavy civil Construction Estimating skills, with experience preparing detailed estimates for waterfront or marine projects.
- Proficiency in Quantity Take‑offs and blueprint/specification review, including measurement of civil, structural, and marine work items.
- Cost Management and Budgeting skills, including analyzing unit rates, developing cost breakdowns, and supporting project cost control.
- Effective Communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and subcontractors and prepare clear written proposals.
- Familiarity with estimating software and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with construction management tools is a plus.
- Relevant experience in marine, heavy civil, or industrial construction; prior field experience in marine construction is highly beneficial.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent estimating experience.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and time‑management abilities, with attention to detail and the capacity to manage multiple bids and deadlines.
- Commitment to safety, ethical business practices, and continuous improvement in estimating methods and project delivery.
