OVERVIEWOur client, a well-established mechanical contractor
, is seeking an experienced HVAC Estimator to join its construction team in Chesapeake, VA. This position is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for HVAC construction projects, ensuring competitive bids, and supporting project managers and leadership in securing new work. The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of estimating experience
, strong technical knowledge, and proven cost analysis skills.
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for HVAC construction projects.
- Analyze drawings, specifications, proposals, and related documentation to prepare bids.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to gather pricing information.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and value-engineering solutions.
- Assist with bid proposals, budgets, and change order pricing.
- Build and maintain strong vendor and subcontractor relationships to secure competitive pricing.
- Track historical cost data for use in future project estimates.
The HVAC Estimator ensures every project is competitively priced, properly scoped, and financially viable before construction begins. This role is critical to winning bids, reducing risk, and ensuring successful project execution

- 5+ years of HVAC estimating or related construction estimating experience.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, mechanical construction, and industry standards.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
- Experience with estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
