Job Description
Insight Global is seeking an Assistant Construction Manager for a top engineering, construction, and consulting client. This individual will support major water, wastewater, pipeline, and infrastructure projects throughout Virginia, including a flagship $80M-$90M project in Winchester. The Assistant Construction Manager will spend the majority of their time in the field coordinating subcontractors, managing safety and quality initiatives, reviewing project documents, handling RFIs, and driving daily construction execution.
This role offers a clear growth path from Project Engineer-level responsibilities into Project Management and Construction Management, providing exposure to large‑scale projects, financial management, scheduling, contract administration, and client-facing responsibilities. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on construction professional who enjoys leading teams, solving field issues, and building complex infrastructure projects from the ground up.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Manage assigned subcontractors and field work packages
- Review drawings, specifications, and construction documents to ensure proper execution
- Serve as the first point of contact for field RFIs and construction questions
- Monitor and enforce safety and quality standards across active job sites
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and field crews
- Track project progress and communicate updates to project leadership
- Support scheduling, cost tracking, forecasting, and financial reporting
- Assist with change orders and contract administration
- Maintain project documentation and document control systems

- 3+ YOE in construction project management
- Experience with document control, scheduling, cost control and other project management functions
- Industry experience, can come from water/wastewater, transportation, aviation, energy, government, manufacturing, civil, etc. (not looking for vertical or residential)
- Degree in engineering, construction management or other applicable field highly desired
