The Upper School Principal provides spiritual, academic, and cultural leadership for grades 6–12. This role ensures a Christ-centered environment of academic excellence, discipleship, student engagement, and relational leadership.

The principal oversees curriculum delivery, faculty development, student culture and activities, discipline, parent partnership, and daily operations within the Upper School. This role works closely with Academic Support personnel and the Registrar to develop academic plans, schedule students, and support diverse learning needs.

Major Responsibilities
1. Spiritual & Relational Leadership
  • Model a Christ-centered lifestyle and provide pastoral leadership to students and staff.
  • Support chapel coordination with the Director of Spiritual Life.
  • Build a relational culture through visibility in hallways, classrooms, and student life.
2. Academic Leadership
  • Supervise Upper School teachers and ensure high-quality instruction.
  • Lead curriculum alignment, course planning, academic rigor, and classroom observations.
  • Conduct teacher evaluations and provide coaching, feedback, and goal setting.
  • Partner with Academic Support personnel to support students needing accommodations and custom academic plans.
  • Collaborate with the Registrar to determine course listing, build schedules, assign students to classes, and resolve academic placement issues.
3. Student Culture & Activities (Division Responsibility)
  • Oversee Upper School student activities:
  • Student Government
  • Clubs and organizations
  • Banquets, and events
  • Advisory
  • Leadership development
  • Shape a positive culture that reflects the school’s mission and values.
4. Discipline & Student Support
  • Oversee student accountability systems and discipline responses.
  • Partner with parents to support student growth and restoration.
  • Work with counselors, teachers, and Academic Support to meet student needs.
5. Parent Partnership
  • Build strong relationships with parents through communication, conferences, and support.
  • Communicate proactively about student performance, behavior, and school events.
  • Support the school’s mission and represent the Upper School to families.
6. Communication & Operations
  • Communicate key information to families, faculty, and staff.
  • Manage schedules, calendars, ceremonies, and milestone events (graduation, awards, etc.).
  • Organize faculty meetings, professional development, and division planning.
  • Support admissions through family interviews and placement decisions.
