Minimum Qualifications- Licensed Master’s Social Worker with full or temporary School Social Work approval by State of Michigan
- Prior experience in the development of functional assessments and behavior intervention plans to facilitate successful learning
- Strong knowledge of community resources which may be used by individuals with developmental challenges
- Demonstrate the capacity to identify barriers to student growth and the ability to analyze complex situations in order to achieve effective outcomes for students
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff, individuals receiving services, families, other agencies, and the general public
- Employment experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities preferred
- Proficient in writing reports and maintaining records
- Conducts Functional Assessments that incorporate multiple data/information sources, including formal/informal observation of behaviors that interfere with learning
- Develops Behavior Support Plans that are built upon the concepts of positive behavioral supports and utilizes ethical, proactive, person centered approaches in order to modify or resolve behavior
- Develops methods of tracking effectiveness of behavior support plans through the analysis of behavioral data and makes changes to the plan as necessary
- Provides the necessary training and modeling to enable classroom staff to effectively implement behavior support plans and instructional strategies in order to reduce or eliminate undesirable behaviors
- Promotes student self-advocacy and independence by encouraging each individual to identify his/her needs and preferences
- Provides timely and accurate documentation, in compliance with policies, procedures and regulations
- Serve as a member of the building Crisis Team
- Other duties as assigned
