Coordinator of Curriculum and Intervention (Title I)

GENERAL PURPOSE

This position performs difficult professional work coordinating tier I ELA and Math instruction and tier II and tier III interventions for Title I schools, including the Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports (MTSS). Work is performed under the general supervision of the Director of Academic Support and the Director of Curriculum and Instruction. Limited supervision is exercised over teachers, instructional coaches, and support staff.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Coordinates the development and implementation of curriculum and programs in the area of English Language Arts (including early literacy programs) and math.
  • Coordinate and implement the Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports (MTSS) Framework and tier II and tier III interventions for academics.
  • Coordinates the gathering, selecting, and analysis of data with respect to the program area, as well as recommendations and plans for responsive action.
  • Disaggregates and analyzes data and assists administrators, coaches, and teachers in its interpretation to measure and improve student achievement and/or program effectiveness.
  • Communicates state and district assessment trend data for continuous improvement of student achievement in reading and math.
  • Coordinate, plan, and develop tier II/tier III research/evidence-based practices and supports. Facilitates the use of research-based teaching strategies and best practices to address the needs of teachers and the goals of the schools.
  • Stays current on research-based instructional strategies related to ELA and math.
  • Contributes to the research, identification, and implementation of tier II and tier III interventions.
  • Keeps informed on educational innovations and trends as they relate to ELA and math.
  • Collaborates with the various departments to provide staff development needed in order to implement the school's School Success Plan.
  • Provide professional development to staff to increase school-wide fidelity of implementation at Title I schools.
  • Participates in ongoing professional development.
  • Provides orientation and professional development programs for new personnel.
  • Provides input in the recruitment, screening, and training of departmental personnel.
  • Attends relevant school, district, and other professional and leadership meetings.
  • Establishes, maintains, and enhances effective communication with staff (including updates).
  • Partners with teachers during PLC, planning, and department meetings and contributes to instruction and student achievement through feedback and input.
  • Guides and coaches teachers to utilize information from the PLC to develop action plans in response to student needs.
  • Collaborates with the department points of contact or department chairs to promote interdisciplinary programs and provide direction regarding meeting instructional goals and objectives.
  • Manage and/or provide input for the development of grants. Assists in the collection, review, and submission of all forms and reports relative to the program area to state/federal agencies.
  • Demonstrate responsibility for professional growth by seeking continued professional learning.
  • Attends relevant school, district, and other professional and leadership meetings.
  • Assists teachers in the handling of instructional problems and serves as a resource person on curriculum and tiered intervention questions.
