ACADEMIC SUPPORT SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT COACH

GENERAL PURPOSE
The purpose of the Academic Support School Improvement Coach position is to support K-12 schools in implementing and monitoring school improvement efforts that strengthen multi-tiered instruction, build educator capacity, and improve student achievement. Through coaching, professional learning, collaborative planning, and data-driven decision-making, the coach partners with teachers, administrators, and school improvement teams to support the successful implementation of Comprehensive School Improvement Plans and evidence-based instructional practices.
The coach uses student achievement, instructional, and progress-monitoring data to identify needs, inform improvement priorities, guide instructional decision-making, and monitor progress toward school improvement goals. Through job-embedded coaching cycles, the coach supports educators in strengthening Tier I instruction, implementing effective instructional practices, meeting the needs of diverse learners, and translating professional learning into classroom practice.
This position provides non-evaluative support through modeling, co-planning, observation, feedback, and facilitation of professional learning. The position reports to the Department of Academic Support, works closely with school administrators and division staff, and is contingent upon state and division budget approval.
Notes:
- Implement and maintain evidence-based coaching cycles aligned to school improvement goals and identified school needs;
- Provide individualized coaching support through planning, classroom observations, feedback, reflection, and follow-up support;
- Model instructional practices, co-plan, and co-teach to strengthen implementation of effective instructional strategies;
- Establish and maintain positive, non-evaluative coaching relationships built on trust, respect, and open communication;
- Support teachers in planning and delivering high-quality Tier I instruction, differentiation, and small-group instruction that meets the needs of diverse learners;
- Support educators in analyzing instructional practices, identifying strengths and areas for growth, and improving instructional delivery;
- Model culturally responsive practices and support inclusive learning environments that meet the needs of all learners;
- Support schools in conducting needs assessments, analyzing multiple sources of data, identifying root causes, and developing improvement strategies aligned to Comprehensive School Improvement Plans (CSIPs);
- Disaggregate and analyze student achievement, instructional, and progress-monitoring data to identify trends, strengths, and areas for growth;
- Collaborate with school leaders and educators to identify priority needs, develop action plans, and monitor progress toward school improvement and student achievement goals;
- Support administrators, teachers, and support staff in using data to inform instructional decisions, intervention supports, and continuous improvement efforts;
- Monitor implementation fidelity and evaluate the effectiveness of school improvement initiatives through ongoing data review and collaboration with school leadership teams;
- Maintain coaching trackers and documentation demonstrating coaching activities, educator growth, implementation progress, and evidence of instructional improvement;
