Position Overview
Chesapeake Montessori is a licensed childcare center seeking a Lead Teacher to support the following age group:
- Preschool
- Prepare lesson plans that are developmentally appropriate one week in advance using current curriculum guides.
- Implement lesson plans and curriculum on a weekly basis covering all areas of child development and carry out lesson plans according to classroom schedule and daily routine; use our parent communication app efficiently.
- Establish a professional rapport with each family to provide quality care for the children.
- Be responsible for the safety and well‑being of each child, responding to their emotional needs and maintaining an organized, clean, safe, and appropriately decorated classroom.
- Maintain a child assessment and portfolio for each child, and conduct biannual parent/teacher conferences during the month of November and May.
- Have the physical ability to work around small children, including sitting, standing, walking, running, and climbing stairs.
- Be able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs and fulfill all physical requirements of the role.
- Carry out the daily responsibilities of the classroom relating to the care of the children.
- Bachelor's degree, elementary Montessori certification, or being in the process of obtaining certification and having classroom experience.
- Required shift:
Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. - Pay: $18 – $20 an hour based on experience and education.
