Job Summary and Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following; other duties may be assigned:
- Engineer network using equipment utilizing Sonet, DACS, multiplexing, DWDM and synchronization technologies
- Engineer network to accommodate voice, video and data services including TDM, ATM, Frame Relay, ADSL and Internet services
- Prepare work orders and material requisitions for all transport projects
- Coordinate with contractors, field operations and other engineering disciplines for implementing all transport projects
- Build and maintain records of transport infrastructure and equipment in appropriate databases (ASAP, JCARS)
- Engineer according to company and industry standards
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

- Knowledge of transmission, Central office and remote equipment (i.e. DWDM, IP, OSP, Sonet, Digital Loop Carrier, Cable rack layout and DC power)
- Effective customer focus, analytical and organizational skills
- PC skills
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- BSEE or BS degree preferred. Electronics trade school graduate combined with 1 years Telecommunications
- 2 Years Telecommunications experience
- 1-2 Years of Detail Engineering experience or customer support experience
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos; ability to write simple correspondence; ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the Company.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
