Overview
Assistant Structural Revit Designer
Location: Chesapeake, VA
Pay Range: $34.82 - $39.94 per hour
Benefits: Standard Medical, Dental, 401(k)
Responsibilities- Assist in designing various civil projects including site design, land development, roads, storm drainage systems, storm water management facilities, water and sanitary sewer utility design, sediment and erosion control, and traffic control, airports, and facility design.
- Assist with a full range of drawing production work including problem analysis, design layout and calculations on non-routine assignments of substantial variety and complexity.
- Modeling & Drafting:
Develop detailed Revit structural models and construction drawing sets (plans, sections, details) - Engineering Support:
Interpret sketches, markups, and design calculations provided by engineers to create accurate drawings. - Coordination:
Collaborate with project teams, architects, and engineers to identify and resolve BIM model conflicts. - Standards Compliance:
Apply company and industry standards (e.g., BIM standards) to all deliverables. - Document Management:
Assist with organizing project documents, such as transmittals, PDFs, and shop drawing sets. - Software:
Proficiency in Revit; familiarity with AutoCAD is generally required. - Technical Knowledge:
Understanding of structural components and construction documents. - Incorporate schedules, budgets and project criteria into civil design and layouts.
- Organize and maintain all revisions of project drawings, plot files and project-related information in a logical and well-structured manner.
- Bachelor Degree in drafting technology or related field and 2 years related experience required; OR Associate Degree and 3 years related experience required; OR 4 years progressive detailing and design experience required.
- Basic understanding of design software such as:
AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Micro Station, and Excel to develop the design deliverables. - Basic knowledge in design, calculations and design systems.
- Basic knowledge in the theory and practices of civil discipline; competent in the fundamental concepts of other disciplines as they relate to the assigned discipline; and capable of operating related discipline design software necessary to execute production tasks.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others (Project Managers, Engineers and Designers) in a multi-discipline project team environment to resolve design or drawing issues as appropriate and to accomplish objectives.
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills, and attention to detail.
- Soft Skills:
Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
