Senior Systems Engineer – Satellite Mission Engineering (ME)

Raytheon is hiring a Senior Systems Engineer for a satellite mission engineering team operating in a 24/7 environment in Alexandria, Virginia. The role requires U.S. citizenship and an active, transferable TS/SCI CI Poly U.S. government‑issued security clearance.

• Create and implement daily operations plans using complex software and hardware systems.
• Apply command and control tasks and activities.
• Maintain technical knowledge of a large repository of formal procedures and accurately select and apply the correct procedures for each scenario.
• Obtain and apply technical knowledge on various hardware subsystems.
• Document discrepancies and implement workarounds and contingency plans to minimize impacts of system anomalies.
• Contribute to testing, readiness, training, and implementation of new ground software deliveries.
• Cross‑train in other operator positions as assigned and assist with training of other personnel on the contract team.
• Lead interactions and support all missions, including the initialization of new missions.
• Work program level priorities to implement process improvements relevant to the supported mission.
• Travel periodically to interact with personnel from various sites and factories.
• Work in an adaptable small team environment (3‑7 people).

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics).
• Minimum 2 years of prior related engineering experience or equivalent.
• Training and certification in an operational position.
• Active, transferable TS/SCI CI Poly U.S. government‑issued security clearance.
• U.S. citizenship.

• Experience working in a virtual team environment.
• Experience and proficiency with Windows and UNIX platforms.
• Experience with Perl, Python, VBA, or other scripting languages.
• Experience using the Microsoft Office suite.

USD 68,900 – 131,100 (range based on experience, location, and other factors).
