Environmental Construction Inspector with the Public Works Environmental Quality Services team. Responsible for coordinating with contractors, developers and builders to conduct routine Erosion and Sediment Control and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) inspections for properties under construction.
- Coordinate with contractors, developers and builders to conduct routine erosion and sediment control and stormwater pollution prevention plan inspections for properties under construction.
- Develop positive working relationships with staff from Public Works, Development and Permits, and the VA Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) to coordinate erosion and stormwater management ordinance enforcement.
- Coordinate with City staff from Public Works and Development and Permits to accomplish goals, communicate information, and coordinate interdepartmental enforcement.
- Investigate citizen complaints into erosion and sediment control and stormwater violations.
- Prepare correspondence and maintain database reports and records such as erosion and sediment control routine inspection forms and SWPPP inspection records.
- Review erosion and sediment control and stormwater management construction design plans and sequence of construction.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications- Vocational / Educational Requirement:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to an associate’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related field. - Experience Requirement:
Minimum of two years of related, full‑time equivalent experience, in addition to satisfying the vocational/education standard. - Special Certifications and Licenses:
Valid driver’s license and a driving record in compliance with City Driving Standards; certification as a Dual Erosion and Sediment Control and Stormwater Inspector within six months of completing the DEQ courses. - Special Requirements:
Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short‑term department needs and/or City‑wide emergencies.
