SalarySalary will be calculated based on experience, qualifications, and the level at which the candidate is hired.
- Engineer I starts at $66,380
- Engineer II starts at $73,264
- Engineer III starts at $80,862
Civil Engineering Opportunities – Engineer I, II, III (Depending on Qualifications). Selected candidates may be eligible for a sign‑on bonus and opportunities for career advancement.
Key Responsibilities- Research and analyze engineering data to prepare and update plans, reports, and correspondence.
- Review and design plans to ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards for public works, utilities, street lighting, water and wastewater systems, and traffic engineering projects.
- Perform essential engineering functions including site inspections, cost estimating, and monitoring project progress.
- Prepare, evaluate, approve, and maintain engineering documentation such as specifications, invoices, proposals, grant applications, and permits.
- Coordinate project implementation through collaboration with internal staff, contractors, consultants, and external agencies.
- Respond to inquiries and resolve concerns from contractors, City staff, the public, and partner organizations.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, seminars, and conferences to support continuous professional development.
- Perform related duties as assigned, including training or supervising subordinate staff when appropriate.
- Vocational/Educational Requirement: Must hold a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related field. For Engineer I, four years of relevant full‑time experience will be assessed in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.

- Engineer I:
No experience required for applicants with a bachelor’s degree; non‑degreed applicants must have two years of experience in addition to degree equivalency. - Engineer II:
Minimum two years of related, full‑time equivalent experience. - Engineer III:
Minimum five years of related, full‑time equivalent experience.
- Engineer I:
- Special Certifications and Licenses: Requires a valid driver’s license and a driving record that is in compliance with City Driving Standards. A Professional Engineer (PE) license is required to qualify for Engineer III. Depending on the position, additional state and/or city certifications may be required.
- Special Requirements: Employees may be expected to work hours beyond normally scheduled hours in response to short‑term department needs and/or city‑wide emergencies.
