This position is located in Chesapeake VA.

Hourly pay range: $36.05-$38.46/hr

The Engineering Technician V performs non-routine and complex assignments involving responsibility for planning and conducting a complete project of relatively limited scope or a portion of a larger and more diverse project, selects and adapts plans, techniques, designs, or layouts, and contacts personnel in related activities to resolve problems and coordinate the work, reviews, analyzes and integrates the technical work of others.

Supervisor or professional engineer outlines objectives, requirements, and design approaches. Completed work is reviewed for technical adequacy and satisfaction of requirements.

• Lead the installation, configuration, and testing of highly technical machinery, electrical systems, structural assemblies, or specialized electronics.
• Designs, develops, and constructs major units, devices, or equipment; conducts tests or experiments; analyzes results and redesigns or modifies equipment to improve performance; and reports results.
• Plans tests to evaluate equipment performance. Determines test requirements, equipment modification, and test procedures; conducts tests using all types of instruments; analyzes and evaluates test results; and prepares reports on findings and recommendations.
• Perform repairs, maintenance, and installation of supported electronic equipment.
• Development and review of engineering documents and drawings and provide corrections as needed.
• Maintain records and files of work and revisions.
• Ability to travel and work independently.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Keep managers and supervisors apprised of their progress, ability to work well with others, adhere to contract requirements, and comply with company policies and procedures.

• Must be a US citizen
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret clearance
• Completion of USCG or DOD technical A School or 8 years practical experience supporting USCG/DOD communication and navigation systems.
• Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check and pre-hire drug test.

• Associates degree in Engineering Technology.

• On customer site as required to include ship and shore-based units.

• Ability to travel.
• Carry and install equipment as required
