Financial Controller; Federal Government Contractor

Background check and U.S. Citizenship are requirements for this position. This is not a remote position; the candidate will report to the Chesapeake, VA office.

• Oversee the company's accounting and financial compliance functions with primary responsibility for government contract accounting, reporting and audit readiness.
• Manage all accounting operations, including GL, AR/AP, payroll coordination, and cash management.
• Ensure compliance with FAR/DFAR/CAS.
• Prepare and review monthly financial statements and project analysis.
• Oversee indirect rates, cost pools, and invoicing compliance.
• Lead DCAA/DCMA audits and support external financial audits.
• Maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
• Support contract pricing, proposals, and rate development.
• Partner with executive leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and growth planning.
• Supervise and develop accounting staff.
• Work independently while collaborating across departments.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred).
• 10+ years of accounting experience, including hands‑on experience with U.S. government contracts.
• Strong working knowledge of FAR, DCAA compliance, and indirect rate management.
• Experience with Unanet or similar accounting system focused on U.S. government contracting.
• Strong Excel, Word & PowerPoint skills.
